For the 2020 edition of Sustaining Voices, the industry is invited to present companies and individuals for consideration in each of the five categories we will honor this year.

The Process

Nominations will be accepted for each Sustaining Voices category on a rolling basis.

Nominations for the balance of the categories will run as follows in 2020:

  • Waste Reduction — nominations closed
  • Sustainable Materials — nominations closed
  • Supply Chain Efficiency — nominations closed
  • Emissions Reduction — June 17 – July 15; Nominate here.
  • Traceability & Transparency — July 28 – August 25

Nominations will be considered for companies and individuals that have made or are striving toward significant contributions in improving the sustainability of the global textile and apparel market.

Q. How will honorees be selected? Each will be selected by Sourcing Journal in consultation with a select group of apparel industry experts based on: the “wow” factor, uniqueness, scalability, buzz and impact each person, program and company has had on sustainability in the previous 12 months.


Q. When will honorees be announced? Honorees for the 2020 edition of Sustaining Voices will be announced as follows:

  • Waste Management — April 22
  • Sustainable Materials — June 5
  • Supply Chain Efficiency — July 16
  • Emissions Reduction — August 27
  • Traceability & Transparency — Oct 13

Q. What kind of information should I submit in my nomination? You'll want to provide details on what person/technology/initiative/achievement and why they should be considered, keeping in mind that honorees are chosen based on the following factors:

  • the “wow” factor
  • uniqueness
  • scalability
  • buzz
  • the impact each person, program and company has had on sustainability in the previous 12 months

Feel free to provide links to press releases, press coverage or other supporting documents that might be helpful for Sourcing Journal and the advisory board as they review your submission.


Q. I don't see a link for nominations in the category I'm interested in? What should I do? This is either because the nomination period has ended for that category or because it hasn't begun yet. Please check the nomination scheduled listed under "The Process" section of this page.


Q. Can I nominate myself or my company? Yes, you can nominate youreself or your company.


Q. I've nominated one person/company already. Can I nominate another? Yes, you can submit nominations for multiple companies/people.


Q. Can an individual/company be honored in more than one category? An individual/company could be honored in more than one category but not for the same innovation/achievement.


Q. Why do I have to provide my name and contact information? We require the name and contact information for everyone who makes a nomination so that we can follow up with them if we require additional information.


Q. I nominated a company or person but they were not selected. Why? We appreciate your nomination. While there are many worthy companies and people working to further sustainability, ultimately Sourcing Journal and our advisory board can only select a few to recognize each year.
